Smart Announces Simpler and Safer LTE Upgrade SIM process

Smart is rolling out a new LTE Upgrade SIM process that’s simple and more effective in deterring cyberscams. Upgrade your Smart SIM to LTE without the unnecessary threats!

Cyberscams have been growing in population for years and it’s only thriving during the pandemic. The new process Smart pushes forth is one that doesn’t require your PIN. The past LTE upgrade transaction Smart used was prone to cyberscams in which persuades unsuspecting users to give out their PIN and one-time password under the guise of an LTE SIM upgrade.

These cybercriminals would pose as Smart employees trying to update your SIM with a PIN request. But actually, their main goal is to transfer your SIM to another sim in their possession. Once your SIM has been acquired, they will then try to steal your mobile identity and access sensitive accounts.

Smart has been proactively trying to stomp these fraudulent activities out. Their new procedure effectively blocks such heinous strategy. Now PIN less, SMART has taken to adding extra layers of security between phone transactions. For example, mobile users can check if their Smart SIM is LTE-ready by simply texting SIMCHECK to 5832 for free. Even so, Smart still encourages everyone to stay vigilant against scams.
