OPPO Reno4 Rumors and Leaks: 90Hz Display, 65W Fast Charging, ‘Reno Glow’?

The OPPO Reno4 expected to launch this June has some interesting alleged specs as successor to the highly successful OPPO Reno3. Lots of rumors, speculations, and leaks have gone flying around so here’s a summary of what looks most likely.

First, naming. OPPO is a Chinese brand so their main market would start and be in China. The Reno4 going next after the Reno3 seems right to other parts of the world, however in China, ‘4’ means bad omen. Other Chinese smartphone brands have skewed far away from ‘4’ for naming so there’s still a small chance the OPPO ‘Reno4’ isn’t final.

Towards the leaks, most are images of posters and live images of the smartphone. A prominent leak is from reliable leaker, Ice Universe who shared this image leak with no watermarks on Twitter. Take note that Ice Universe may not have been the source for this leak.

The leak shows a quad camera setup with the first three sensors aligned and the fourth right beside the last. It doesn’t say much as far as specs go but the rear camera design is reminiscent of LG’s upcoming Velvet smartphone with a water drop rear camera design. Surprisingly, while this might be fake, a lot of other renders and leaks are consistent with this design.

Regarding specs, Sparrows News reported a possible 90Hz display as well as 65W fast charging. That’s how far ‘hinted’ likely specs are going for now but we’re getting more specific image leaks on their article which are sourced from Weibo.

The Reno4 seems to have a curved back finish with cameras slightly protruding out. There’s also text printed by the camera module which reads ‘Ultra Steady’ and a weird large ‘Reno Glow’ on the lower-right. This design does look unconventional even when put side to side with the Reno 3, but OPPO has trademarked ‘Reno Glow’ earlier this year. Again, possible.

For the processor, following the 65W fast charging support the Reno 4 can most like go two ways. They can either opt for the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus (like the Reno 3) or finally go Qualcomm. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G 5G was just launched in May. It’s a fitting candidate for the price range of the OPPO Reno4.

All in all, the Reno4 is still a mid-range 5G smartphone. It’s got a good track record with the Reno 3 so at least, we’ll still be getting quality cameras. The OPPO Reno4 is set to launch in China by June but it seems we won’t expecting its release here anytime soon. After all, OPPO did launch the Reno 3 series in the Philippines three months after its China release.
