Nokia’s 2020 Releases: Introducing the 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3 and the Rebooted Nokia 5310

HMD Global goes big with the launch of their first 5G smartphone, the Nokia 8.3 5G. Poised to be the first truly global 5G smartphone, it boasts of a superior 5G band range and a cinematic camera. Following this sweet, sweet deal is the additional releases of Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, and the revival of Nokia 5310. Cost, usability, and future-proofing are the keywords to look out for according to Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global with this momentous launch!

The 5G smartphone support isn’t new, but the Nokia 8.3 5G is offering never-seen before capabilities to the table. HMD Global isn’t holding back with their claims. A main feature present with this is Qualcomm’s newest 5G RF (Radio Frequency) front end module. The Nokia 8.3 5G can apparently support a wide range of 5G network deployments. This is alongside standalone and non standalone 5G combinations slowly rolling out around the world. Meaning, apart from strong connectivity, we’ll be able to expect 5G roaming across countries. A steady future-proofing for the longevity of the Nokia 8.3 5G.

Alongside great news for connectivity, the Nokia 8.3 5G is also introducing Nokia’s superb cameras to boot. It’s hardware in the rear consists of a main 64-megapixel sensor. That’s alongside a 12-megapixel ultra wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Design reminiscent of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro but with the unique Nokia touch. The 24-megapixel selfie camera ties the deal for the cameras in this phone. The PureView quad camera is able to support ultra wide angle shots for photo- savvy users. It’s also able to shoot 4K 60fps video recordings with its new feature, Action Cam Mode. These lenses are confidently Zeiss certified. Which adds an extra candy, the Zeiss Cinematic Capture feature. In addition, this feature enables users to shoot cinematically in 21:9 format. Expect Hollywood-style color grading, a dynamic range, and anamorphic lens flare effects!

The Nokia 8.3 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 765G, has a 6.81-inch display, and is running on 4,500 mAh battery. One of the familiar features we’ll see here is the fingerprint sensor present on the power button.

The Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3 are the new budget friendly releases we’re introduced to apart from the Nokia 8.3 5G. It’s amazing for all the right reasons. The Nokia 5.3 is the new mid-range release offering valuable usage for its comparable cost. Most importantly, as the successor of the previous mid range 2018 Nokia 5.1, we’re seeing hot upgrades. From a single rear camera, we’ll now get a quad-camera comprising of a main 13-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel ultra wide angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. A Snapdragon 665 powers the 6.55-inch display unit with a front 8-megapixel camera and made to last about two days with its 4000 mAh battery.

Then for the real budget smartphone is the Nokia 1.3 Android 10 (Go Edition). The entry smartphone is adequately sized with a 5.71-inch display and a Snapdragon 250 processor. Above all, the biggest deal for its cost is the debut of the Google’s Camera App. There, Nokia has added its Bokeh and Night Mode technology. Good pics for a phone that won’t break the bank! 

This one’s for the fans! The rebirth of the Nokia 5310 will certainly take you back to memory lane. The new Nokia 5310 has the same original feel with enhanced specs that won’t stray too far from what you know. This new addition to the Nokia Originals is a 2G phone running on the Nokia Series 30+ operating system. Religious to the Nokia trademark, it has a month worth of standby battery and an included FM antenna. Just making sure you’ll never miss a beat.

HMD Global’s also introducing their latest HMD Connect global data roaming service to make internet data across countries simpler and easier. It’s already present in 180 countries and HMD is hoping to expand it more!

The Nokia 8.3 5G is priced at approx. Php 33,250 (600 €), the Nokia 5.3 at approx. Php 10,550 (190 €), the Nokia 1.3 at approx. Php 5,000 (90 €), and lastly, the Nokia 5310 at Php 2,150 (39 €).
