Gigabyte has announced their new W480 VISION motherboard aimed for content creators, professionals or simply those who are looking to build a “clean” (RGB less) PC. As part of its model name, the Gigabyte W480 VISION uses Intel’s Enterprise level W480 chipset that uses the new socket LGA1200 for 10th Gen Core or Xeon processors. This model will complete Gigabyte’s VISION Series product line. These new motherboards are designed specifically for the new Intel ® Xeon W and 10 th Gen Core™ processors. 

Hardware

The latest Intel Xeon W processor is built as a professional creator platform that enables them to work effectively. It can perform cloud computing, real time analysis work, critical business processing as well as accurate large data processing. VFX, 3D compilation, 3D CAD, AI Development, and edge deployment are some of the suitable tasks these Xeon W processors are built for. In addition, it has support for Error Correcting Code (ECC) Memory, allowing for detection and repair of memory data errors. This reduces the possibility of crashes from happening, ensuring a stable and reliable working experience.

Graphics and Accessories Support

For GPUs, the Gigabyte W480 VISION supports multi-GPU technology. Users can install multiple high-end or NVIDIA Quadro workstation graphics cards. And, to aid in cooling, the PCIe slots have been spaced to provide enough distance between GPUs. Aside from USB 3 Type A ports, the motherboard also features built-in Thunderbolt 3 with two sets of USB Type C. These provide up to 40Gbps per channel; enabling fast file transfers. Plus with daisy chain technology, a single port can connect 6 devices in series.

Network

As for network features, the Gigabyte W480 VISION comes with dual Intel server-level network designs providing 2.5GbE and 1GbE network; and Intel vPro technology. For wireless, it has an Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax network adapter and a high gain antenna that provides 2.4Gbps. This flexibility allows creators to connect through either network type without having significant speed difference.

Power and Cooling

Thermal design of the Gigabyte W480 VISION inherits heavily from Gigabyte’s knowledge on motherboard VRM thermal design, using up to 12 phase direct power design paired with highly durable DrMOS to provide the best power balance. Solid power pin connectors on the W480 VISION series motherboards ensure that the power delivery is stable. It reduces excess heat during high workload to prevent throttling, and make the processor more stable to avoid downtime due to an unstable power supply. A new design of the fins-array, direct-touch heat-pipe, and large heat sink plus and Smart Fan 5 technology, not only strengthens the thermal effect, but also allowing the Gigabyte W480 VISION motherboards to be both stylish and thermally efficient.

Storage Interface

Gigabyte W480 VISION motherboards use PCIe 4.0 grade PCBs, PCIe slots, M.2 slots, and controllers for the highest bandwidth quality. With PCIe x4 M.2 slots and large heat dissipation film, it allows M.2 SSD high efficiency and low temperature operation. In addition, W480 VISION W and W480M VISION W which are designed for workstation construction, have up to 10 buit-in SATA interfaces, allowing users to easily build multi-disk RAID settings while taking into account high speed, large capacity, and data protection. Users need not worry about lost data because of the accidents. Furthermore, the SATA DOM ports designed for the W480 VISION W motherboard can increase the speed of SATA storage devices, and high reliability.

Audio

Finally, for users who have a need for video editing, or simply want to listen to music to relieve tension at work; excellent sound performance is absolutely indispensable. GIGABYTE W480 VISION series motherboards utilize the ALC 1220-VB audio engine and pair it with the WIMA FKP2 studio-grade audio capacitors to deliver studio-grade, high quality audio.
