New PLDT TVolution Device Announced

PLDT announced its new generation of its PLDT TVolution streaming device at the Asia Pacific Video Operators Summit in Bali, Indonesia. According to the press release sent to us by PLDT, they are going to collaborate with Roku Inc., provider of their popular device used for streaming VOD (Video-on-Demand) content.

The new PLDT TVolution-Roku streaming device will have over 50 streaming channels including Cignal, iflix, Netflix, and YouTube. I am not sure how Cignal is included here since I know they need a satellite dish to make this subscription work. We will see in the next few weeks how they are going to implement it. The TVolution box and service will be available for all PLDT Home Fibr, DSL, and Ultera customers starting this May for an additional monthly service fee of P299.

I have a good feeling that this partnership is good for PLDT since the Roku device provides entertainment for the whole family. I’ll update its developments when we get more news about its partnership.
