MSI announced two new Gaming Laptops powered by the latest Intel 10th Gen processors. These are the MSI GS66 Stealth and the MSI GE66 Raider. Both these laptops were first introduced in CES Las Vegas last January 2020.
The MSI GS66 Stealth replaces the GS65, which is popular for its aesthetics and performance. It is designed for the working professional, who needs a powerful laptop that’s easily portable and can be used for gaming after office hours.
Gone are the gold trims on the side and gold logo on the lid as they were replaced with a matte black finish, making the GS66 a bad-ass gaming laptop. The Core Black color is now more appropriate for its name – Stealth.
Hinges on the GS66 were strengthened and the display can be pushed up to 180 degrees.
The GS66 Stealth has a 15.6″ Full HD display with IPS-level technology. Its super fast refresh rate of 240Hz will let gamers experience fast-paced action smoother than ever before. Its thin bezels gives the screen more real estate in a compact sized body. MSI was still able to fit an IR camera on top which can also be used for Windows Hello.
Powering up the GS66 is the latest Intel Core i7-10750H processor with a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q Design or RTX 2060. Its Cooler Boost Trinity+ system composed of 3 fans with 67 fan blades and 7 heat pipes will ensure your laptop will stay cool while in the middle of the action. MSI said that the thermal performance is 10% better than the previous generation. The motherboard was redesigned and can now be modded by the user. Screws can be removed on key parts like M.2 SSD and memory for easy upgrade in seconds. Speaking of these two, the laptop now has dual DDR4DRAM and dual M.2SSD.
A Thunderbolt 3 port is located on the left side of the laptop and it supports up to 40Gbps of data transfer rates and 8K displays. The GS66 supports Power Delivery charging through USB, meaning if you have a powerbank with power delivery output of 65w, you can charge the laptop while on the go.
Keyboard has RGB (per key) and touchpad is silky smooth. Speakers are now located on the palmrest for an immersive gaming and music experience. The GS66 is also equipped with a 99.9Whr battery, the world’s largest for a laptop and can last up to 9 hours of continuous productivity.
The MSI GE66 Raider is designed for users who eats, sleeps and breathes gaming. It features an industry-leading panoramic lighting atmosphere by Mystic Light which creates an alluring sci-fi ambience. Like the GS66, its hinge-design was also improved to lessen defects.
Under its hood is the latest 10th Generation processor from Intel with a choice of Core i9-10980HK or Core i7-10750H, and an NVIDIA GeForce GPU RTX 2070 Super or RTX 2070. It also has Cooler Boost 5 for cool thermals and a wide array of ports. Its built-in camera has 1080p Full HD resolution which should let gamers stream themselves during a game. Battery is a 99.9Wh which is 2x better than its predecessor and can last up to 6 hours on full productivity mode.
The MSI GS66 Stealth and MSI GE66 Raider will be available end of 2nd quarter 2020, depending on the status of the current pandemic. We don’t have the official prices yet but the GS66 is expected to have a starting price of P149,000 while the GE66 may start at P160,000.
