New iOS Bug Found: Do Not EVER Set Your iPhone Back to 1970

Heads up, iPhone and iPad users! There’s a new iOS bug that was just discovered. If you see this image below or heard from someone about setting your iPhone’s date to January 1, 1970, DON’T DO IT!

Iphone retro

According to this Wired article, the image first surfaced on 4chan last Thursday, luring iPhone owners to change their iPhones’ time & date settings to find an easter egg. It’s supposed to show them a retro logo of Apple. Unfortunately, no such logo exists (Apple wasn’t created in 1970) and instead it will “brick” your iPhone or iPad, making it useless forever unless Apple replaces it or if you buy a new one.

The article mentioned that the iOS bug only affects devices with a 64-bit chip. So if you own an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3 and iPad Mini 4, again I’m warning you not to be stupid enough to change your devices’ dates to January 1, 1970!
