“The best smartphone in the world” has arrived in the Philippines. The LG G2 was officially launched last night at the Solaire Resort and Casino where dealers and members of the media were gathered to witness the product reveal.
LG has dropped the “Optimus” branding for their high-end phone models, possibly part of their efforts to give them more impact to that segment dominated by Apple and fellow Korean brand Samsung. With impressive specs and interesting useful features, the G2 was voted as “the best smartphone out there now” in a recent PhoneArena.com poll.
Key specs of the LG G2 include the following:
- Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- 5.2-inch Full HD IPS Display 1920 x 1080 pixels
- 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-Core processor
- 32GB internal storage (non-expandable)
- 2 GB RAM
- 13 Megapixel camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)
- 4G LTE
The LG G2’s groundbreaking design stems from behavioral studies and features the world’s first Rear Key, which is used for switching on and off, activating LG’s QuickMemo app, and launching the 13 Megapixel Full HD camera. It also incorporates new and practical features that makes the user experience a lot better compared to other phones in its segment.
These are the KnockON, which turns the display on or off by tapping twice with your finger; Guest Mode which protects the user’s privacy by displaying only pre-selected apps when other users access the G2; and Answer Me, which automatically answers the call after lowering the ringtone when the phone is raised to one’s ear.
Here are some videos I took that will show some cool features of the LG G2:
The LG G2 is now available with an SRP of PHp 29,990. I think this will give the Samsung Galaxy S4 and even the newly released Galaxy Note 3 a tough fight.
