Kingston KC2500 NVMe PCIe SSD Is Out

Kingston launches their new KC2500 NVMe PCIe SSD this month to retailers here in the Philippines. The KC2500 is their next generation M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD for desktop, workstations and other systems demanding fast storage. And in other news, Kingston was named as the top DRAM Module Supplier last year.

KC2500 NVMe PCIe SSD

The KC2500 NVMe PCIe SSD uses the latest PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 controller with 96 layer 3D TLC NAND. It has rated speeds of up to 3500 MB/s read and 2900 MB/s write. KC2500 combine both performance and endurance which should help with user’s workflow on desktop or workstations.

KC2500 is available in sizes of up to 2TB, and comes in a M.2 2280 form factor. This self-encrypting SSD supports a full security suite for end-to-end data protection using AES-XTS 256-bit hardware-based encryption. It further supports security software vendors that support TCG Opal 2.0 security management solutions such as Symantec, McAfee, WinMagic and others. The SSD comes with Microsoft eDrive support, making it compatible with BitLocker.

Kingston Technology Top DRAM Module Supplier in 2019

In the latest rankings by revenue report from analyst firm TrendForce (formerly DRAMeXchange), Kingston retains its top standing as the world’s leading third party DRAM module supplier for the year 2019. It is said that Kingston retains the top position with an estimated 80.33% market share on a $12.9B (USD) revenue. With the rankings in 2019, it marks the 17th consecutive year that TrendForce has ranked Kingston in the top spot.

Apart from the continued top ranking, TrendForce also mentions that Kingston is able to grow its market share further in 2019. 2019 was a year where DRAM prices and demand where lower, and Kingston was able to go against the trend.

New Wafer Lithography Leads to Higher Density DRAM for DDR4

As the industry transitions from building modules using 8Gbit density to 16Gbit; Kingston is ready to support customers with concerns on using the high density chips on legacy machines. By moving to the newer 16Gbit wafer litography, it provides power savings over the last generation. This improves battery life on mobile devices and reducing overall costs in data centers. And this is done at the same time while increasing memory capacity.
