Aside from the Huawei P9, the Huawei GR5 was also a hot item in the mid-range segment of smartphones in 2016. Its metallic body, reliable processor and and overall value-for-money features was a hit with consumers who are looking for a high-end looking phone that is less than P15,000. This year, Huawei is bringing back the GR5 equipped with improved internals and a camera that can be used for artistic photos.
The Huawei GR5 2017 retains its 5.5″ Full HD Display but its storage and RAM were bumped to 32GB and 3GB respectively. Unfortunately, the dedicated memory card slot was removed with a hybrid which means users will not be able to use their two SIM cards and memory card at the same time. The battery capacity was also increased from 3,000 mAh to 3,340 mAh for longer usage.
Unlike the newly released Huawei Mate 9 and last year’s blockbuster Huawei P9, the Dual-lens cameras of the GR5 2017 are not co-engineered by Leica. However, this doesn’t mean that users will not be able to take great photos. The GR5 2017 is very capable of taking vivid images, and its dual-lens cameras can take those gorgeous bokeh photos that are Instagram worthy.
