Honor 30s Specs Released and Honor 30 and 30 Pro Leaks and Rumors!

Honor built reputation of producing high-end phones at affordable price after releasing Honor 20 series. It’s now coming back ready with its new upgrades in Honor 30, Honor 30 pro, and the newly introduced Honor 30s. The Honor 30 Series is officially launching on April 15!

Honor announced the Honor 30 series a week after Huawei released their P40 units. As usual, we’re expecting the lineup to be heavily influenced by the freshly released camera- heavy Huawei flagships. We’re expecting three new units this time, the Honor 30s, Honor 30, and the Honor 30 Pro.

So far, Honor has only introduced the Honor 30s. As the budget end of the lineup, we’re feeling pretty good about what we see. The Honor 30s is a 6.5 inch FHD+ LCD display with 90.3% screen-to-body ratio and 405 PPI pixel density. It also carries upgraded features such as its 4000mAh battery, a side fingerprint sensor doubling as its power button, and a headphone jack!

Honor 30s went official equipped with the Kirin 820 5G. For the price, that’s a big deal. It’s eight-core architecture alongside four ARM-Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.84GHz paired with four ARM-A76 cores with varying clock speeds. The Honor 30s has good storage as well resting on 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage (expandable!).

While that is ticking with the Mali-G57 GPU for graphics, admittedly, it’s not flagship level. However according to NotebookCheck, comparing the Kirin 820 outperforms the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and Exynos 980. Mediatek Dimensity chipsets aside, the Kirin 820 is rising above others of its level. Plus, the Honor 30s is the lowest standard for this series!

Similarly, on the software side of things the Honor 30s is packed with the Magic UI 3.1.1 basing off on the Android 10. Keep in mind that Honor is a subsidiary of Huawei, that means you won’t be getting a Google Play Store with it.

The Honor 30s is getting an impressive quad camera setup looking at a main 64MP (f/1.8) with OIS support. Moreover, it’s supported with an 8MP ultra-wide camera (120-degree field of view, f/2.4), an 8MP telephoto camera (f/2.4, 3x optical zoom) on the back, and a 2MP 4cm macro camera (f/2.4). This gives 5x hybrid zoom, and 20x digital zoom. We’ll also get good cameras at the front with a 16MP front (f/2.0) set in a cutout display by the upper-left corner.

As its already up for pre-order, the Huawei 30s will be hitting the stores in glossy polycarbonate coming with three colors; Gold, Space Grey, Silver, and Midnight Green. Though we’re without any idea when this will be global, the Honor 30s pre-order is retailing at approx. Php 17,000 (CNY 2,399) for the 128GB variant and approx. 19,400 (CNY 2,699) for the 256 GB variant. Official sales are on April 7.

Turning over to the other two smartphones in this series, the Honor 30 and Honor 30 Pro, here’s what we’re expecting and leaks we’ve seen.

For the Honor 30, what we’re privy most to is their camera department. Reliable source @OnLeaks revealed what looks to be a triple rear camera set- up. Complete with a 50MP Sony IMX7XX main, 12MP ultra-wide and 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.

According to TechAdvisor and NotebookCheck, it’s very likely we’ll be getting 40W fast charging along with a Kirin 990 chipset. GizmoChina also reported about a month ago, several renders that supposedly leaks the Honor 30’s design.

There are also sneak peeks of the alleged Honor 30 Pro wandering the net. The rumors from GizmoChina reveal that the smartphone has a display with pronounced curvature on left and right sides and a pill-shaped cutout for dual selfie snappers. We’re also likely to get a 90Hz refresh rate.

Other than that, there were also also alleged leaks found on a subway in China for a Honor 30 Pro prototype. We’re seeing a very familiar build, but even then we can’t be sure.

We’ve got no idea when this will be up for sale globally but we’ll definitely get back to you once we do! Check back here for more updates on the honor 30 series.
