I was able to get some hands-on time with the Asus ZenFone 3 after the Zenvolution event. Thank goodness our good friends from ASUS Philippines lent me the phones where I can only freely use inside my hotel room.
Holding the ZenFone 3 doesn’t feel like holding a ZenFone. I’ve used a lot of ZenFones since the ZenFone 5 was released 2 years ago and none of them were this sleek and lightweight and shiny.
Notice the 2.5D at the corner of the screen?
Lightweight yet it feels absolutely premium! The concentric circle design is found on the back.
You might notice in the featured picture of a bigger ZenFone 3. Your eyes are not deceiving you! Indeed, what I have with me right now are the Asus ZenFone 3 with a 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch screen display.
From what I know, the 5.5-inch variant will have a larger storage and larger RAM. It is safe to think that it will have a 64GB Internal Storage and 4GB of RAM.
The weight difference between the 5.2 and 5.5-inch devices are not that noticeable, though if asked, I would prefer a larger screen display.
Before I forget, I would like to let everyone know that these phones are pre-production units. They’re not using the final software version yet, so I can’t make any comments about the speed, performance, UI and camera. They don’t even have the ZenUI 3.0 installed on these phones. Let’s wait for the official review units to arrive and I will do my usual evaluation procedure.
Here’s a photo of the ZenFone 3 5.2, ZenFone 3 5.5, and my ZenFone Max.
ASUS’ design team has sliced off portions of the bezels to make the phone shorter as well as making it thinner.
Here are more photos of the two ZenFone 3 on top of each other. The one on top is the 5.2-inch variant.
