GCash for Distribution of Makati City’s P2.7B Financial Assistance to 500,000 Makatizens

GCash is aiding Makati City with a contact-less distribution of financial aid to 500,000 Makatizens. As the Philippines’ top mobile wallet, GCash is stepping up as a digital disbursement facility for the city of Makati.

The COVID- 19 impact has dealt more damage than we many could’ve prepared for. With salaries postponed, sectors shutdown, and budgets dwindling, many are in deep financial need. However, during these times where contact, even on the bare minimum, can be fatal, what more for massive gatherings?

The GCash alternative proves to be an efficient and safer way to disburse finances to Makatizens. A quick, safe and secure data-driven disbursement platform for the city. Makati City’s expanded Makatizen Economic Relief Program, now called the MAKA-tulong 5K will be adopting such strategy.

Qualifications to be a beneficiary of MAKA-tulong program are:

  • At least 18 years old and a resident of Makati or of any of the relocation sites managed by the city government of Makati in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan and Calauan
  • Registered either as a Makatizen Card holder, or as a Yellow Card holder under the Makati Health Program, or as a voter in Makati City

The financial assistance is on an individual basis, which means that a household with five qualified individuals will get P25,000 in aid. Previous beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) are still qualified for the aid.

To avail the program, first fill out an application form through the Makatizen app (available in iOS and Android) or through the Makatizen website (www.proudmakatizen.com). Otherwise, you can choose to fill up application forms in their respective barangays or through Makati Action Center (MAC) personnel. Each application form must be supplemented with a valid government-issued ID.

The LGU will verify the application then send the financial assistance to the beneficiary’s GCash account. If the beneficiary does not have an account pre-application, LGU officials will be providing assistance on how to set up one.

The economic relief can be used/withdrawn in:

  • GCash Cash In/Cash Out agents
  • ATMs using their Makatizen Cards
  • Beneficiaries may also use the financial assistance that they received through GCash for online and offline transactions, bills payment, and fund transfers, among others.

Download GCash free on the App Store and Google Play. For more information, visit GCash’s Official Website.
