First Look: Huawei Y9 2019 Unboxing, First Impressions, Antutu Benchmark

I recently posted about the arrival of the Huawei Y9 2019 to the Philippine market and what to expect out of it. Thankfully, our friends from Huawei Y9 2019 saw our post and was very gracious in loaning us a review unit for our Huawei Y9 2019 First Impressions post. So how do I find it so far after using the phone after a few days? Let’s find out.

Inside the packaging of the Huawei Y9 2019 is the phone, USB cable, USB Charger Head, Earphones, SIM card ejector, Silicon Case and warranty cards.

The design of the Y9 2019 is different from the P20 series and the Nova series. What makes it different is its curved back which is pretty comfortable to hold. Honestly, I was expecting the colors to be quite flashy like the Nova 3’s Twilight. I mean, usually phones targeting the youth market usually have those kinds of colors. Nevertheless, the Sapphire Blue I received looks unique and cool to the eyes.

The volume controls and power button are found on the right side of the phone.

3.5mm headphone jack, Micro USB plug and speakers at the bottom.

Dual Cameras at the back with the fingerprint scanner below and Dual Cameras at the front, bringing a total of four cameras for a phone priced for P12,900.

The Huawei Y9 2019 comes with a 6.5-inch with Full HD+ resolution. Yes, it has a notch where the front cameras and earpiece are placed but at least they’re smaller than usual. I am not bothered by the notch as the big bright display is pretty good, whether for watching videos or for gaming

The Antutu Benchmark score found above means this phone isn’t a slouch. The Y9 2019 is capable of playing today’s popular mobile games like Mobile Legends, Asphalt 9 and even PUBG Mobile. I mentioned in my post before that its Kirin 710 processor works hand-in-hand with its GPU Turbo technology, so I will be doing some more tests on these games in the next few days.

The rear cameras are composed of 13 Megapixels and 2 Megapixels. Having used the P20 Pro and Nova 3 recently, I had to lower down my expectations knowing the price point of the Y9 2019. The results were actually surprising, as the photos turned out to be better than I thought. Here are some photos I took with the Y9 2019’s dual-cameras:

So that’s it for my Huawei Y9 2019 first impressions. Stay tuned for my full review and upcoming video review that will be posted next week.
