First Look: Huawei Watch GT 2e Unboxing and First Impressions

I’ve been using smartwatches since 2014 and my primary complaint is its battery life. Some smartwatches in the early years can last up to only two straight days. It was fine at first, but eventually I got tired of having to charge every other day, I ended up not wearing the watch anymore. When the Huawei Watch GT 2 was released last year, its 2-week battery life was so enticing I thought of getting one for myself. I waited for a good opportunity to purchase it until the Huawei Watch GT 2e was announced last month. It almost has the same features of the Watch GT 2 for a friendly price. Fortunately, our friends from Huawei Philippines sent me a review unit to test the smartwatch (and force me to work out at home since I have no exercise while on lockdown.) Here’s our Huawei Watch GT 2e Unboxing and First Impressions.

Display: 454x454 HD 1.39" AMOLED Display
Wireless Connections:Bluetooth 5.1, BLE / BR / EDR
Memory:4GB Internal Storage, 32MB RAM
Battery:455 mAh

The packaging is a handsome black box with an image of a Huawei Watch GT 2e.

Inside the black box are the Huawei Watch GT 2e, USB Type-C cable, USB magnetic charging dock and the user manual.

I said earlier that the box is handsome, until I saw the watch in the flesh! Wow!

I fell in love with the Watch GT 2e immediately after opening the box. I didn’t expect for it to look really slick in person.

The watch is made of durable stainless steel that could withstand all your physical activities.

The strap is made of TPU and has some holes in it. This would let your skin breathe as well as let your sweat out during workouts.

Some might say that the watch’s display is big, but for me, it’s exactly the right size. It doesn’t feel heavy nor it looks bulky on my wrist.

Setting up the Watch GT 2e was easy. It needed to be paired with a smartphone so I connected it with my Huawei P40 Pro. Setup was done in a couple of minutes.

We’ll be testing the Huawei Watch GT 2e for the next couple of weeks, especially during workouts. Of course, we’ll also test its other noted features, and monitor its esteemed battery life. Stay tuned to our blog and YouTube channel for the full review.

Meanwhile, you can purchase the Huawei Watch GT 2e at Lazada and Shopee for P6,990.
