Let’s take another look on 2019’s leading figures in the industry. First up, from Samsung’s home court, we have the revolutionary S10+ that lead 2019’s trends! Next is, Huawei’s P30 Pro, face of industry’s best camera specs! And of course, the hype of the town till now, Apple 11 Pro Max!
So here we go! Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra VS. Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10+ and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 ULTRA VS. OTHER PHONES’ DISPLAY SCREENS
Just by display, so far, the Galaxy S20 Ultra takes the cake with a close shave against the S10+ and a sizeable gap with the other two either by size or max brightness. By luminance, with the S20 Ultra, S10+’s dynamic AMOLED, and Iphone 11 Pro’s display, they reach over 1,200 nits (almost double the P30 Pro at 700 nits). In the case of the S20 Ultra versus the others by refresh rates, all loses out by half! The S20 Ultra has a 120 Hz refresh rate while the S10+, Iphone 11, P30 Pro all cap at 60 Hz. This will be good for mobile gamers who want to see fast-paced performance on their screens. Its screen size is significantly larger than the other 3 at 6.9 inches! The S20 Ultra is the definite winner here.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 ULTRA VS. OTHER PHONES’ STORAGE AND MEMORY
For storage, these phones generally offer from 128 GB to 512 GB and a rare few variants of 1TB. The S20 Ultra shines once again for it’s amazingly large 12GB RAM. Closest RAM to the S20 Ultra’s belongs to the S10+ at 12GB! By expandable storage capacity, S20 Ultra’s is undoubtedly the winner at 1TB. Coming closest once again is the S10+ at 512GB which the S20 Ultra doubles! Also worth noting is the S10 and S20 are still using MicroSD cards which majority in the world are using. Huawei on the other hand uses the Nano Memory Card on their P30 Pro. Aside from being hard to find, they’re also expensive. Once again, the S20 Ultra manages to smash opposition!
SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 ULTRA VS. OTHER PHONES’ CAMERAS
Judging solely by main camera MP, optical zoom, front camera MP, and sensors present in the S20 Ultra, it should win fast. While we’ll also have to consider comparisons in low light photography and videography to really ascertain the superior set of smartphone cameras, for the S20 Ultra to house the most powerful main rear camera of the four at 108MP. Just from that, the S20 Ultra is already such a force to reckon with. Add with that the 10x Optical Zoom that can properly challenge the P30 Pro’s zoom. By the current camera specs of the S20 Ultra, it just wins by default.
This time, the Iphone 11 Pro’s Face ID and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 60mm ultrasonic fingerprint scanner takes a tie! Unlike the P30 Pro’s optical fingerprint scanner that uses 2D images, the S20 Ultra ultrasonic fingerprint scanner uses 3D images of the texture of fingerprints, a lot more complex and safer than optical scanners. The Iphone 11 Pro Face ID equals that security out by instead using 30,000 infrared rays to capture the contours of the face. Both are snugly safe and convenient, both thus deserving of equal respect. The S20 Ultra wins against the S10+ by size!
BATTERY AND CHARGING
At 5000 mAh, the S20 Ultra has the longest battery life. By a huge margin. As well as charging power with 45W in fast charging and wireless charging. Undisputedly here, the S20 Ultra is the winner.
Iphone 11 Pro’s A13 Bionic trumped over Galaxy S10+’s Snapdragon 855 Plus in terms of perfomance when benchmarked. This time, the S20 Ultra is coming out with the latest Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990. Proper benchmarks would be needed before declaring a winner between the two. We’ll then have to wait even if the Snapdragon 865 is a year better than the former Snapdragon 855. One thing is clear however, the A13 Bionic is based solely on ios like the Snapdragon 855 and 865 is based on android. Software updates just might be the swing vote.
Samsung’s newest S series, the S20, S20+, and especially the S20 Ultra are really representing just what Android can reach. Uncontested in spec weight, the S20 Ultra really just proves to be Samsung’s present best and biggest smartphone of all. Totally deserving to be Samsung’s main flagship.
The S10+ was anticipated and launched to steadily and readily be one of the top smartphones of the year. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra is no different and just set a new phenomenal benchmark.
As we see the year through, it’ll be interesting to watch what else the industry has to offer. After all, one thing’s for sure, the Galaxy S20 line is definitely one thorough series. A redesigned S10+ with specs on steroids? Sign me up!
