Cherry Mobile Flare S8 Series – Ready to Flare the Competition in the Entry-Level Smartphone Market

I’m not sure if all of you are excited with the new Cherry Mobile Flare S8 series. Personally, I felt the Flare series has somehow lost its glory unlike the first and second Flare that were sold like hotcakes. But after all the products were presented, I believed that Cherry Mobile’s new products will regain its fans and give its competition something to worry about.

The Flare S6 and Flare S7 entry-level models used old MTK processors. Their performance is far slower than the Qualcomm Quad-Core processor that powered the Flare S2. I supposed they realized that their fans are getting tired of seeing the same old Flare, so the new Flare S8 will change that perception.

Cherry Mobile Flare S8

Screen size is at 6.26″ with HD+ resolution and TrueView Teardrop Display. It is still powered by a MediaTek chipset, but the great news is it is powered by a Helio P23 processor. To refresh everyone’s memory, the OPPO F5 has used this processor and proved to be effective and power-efficient. It may be also old, but it’s much, much better than the other outdated MTK processors previous Flare phones have used. Storage is at 32GB with expandable storage up to 128GB and RAM is at 3GB. It is equipped with a Dual-Camera composed of 13 Megapixels and 2 Megapixels while the front camera has 13 Megapixels. It’s LTE ready, runs on Android 9 Pie and has a battery capacity is at 2,800 mAh.

The price? It costs P3,999 and it is very compelling for its specs. I know I haven’t tested the phone yet but on paper, I think the Flare S8 is going to burn the competition in the entry-level segment!

CHERRY MOBILE FLARE S8 PRO

The “middle child” of the series is for those who want a bigger version of the Flare S8. The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 Pro comes with a 6.5″ with HD+ resolution with TrueView Teardrop Display, MTK Helio P22 processor, 64GB Internal Storage expandable up to 256GB, and 4GB memory. Cameras are 20 Megapixels and 5 Megapixels while the front camera is also 20 Megapixels. LTE ready, runs on Android 9 pie and has a bigger battery capacity at 4,000 mAh.

Price is P5,990, and the other tech bloggers agree it has a good price.

CHERRY MOBILE FLARE S8 PLUS

Cherry Mobile Flare S8

The creme a la creme of the Flare S8 series. The Flare S8 Plus is considered the flagship among all phones the brand released this year. It’s their first phone to have a 19:9 Full Screen Display. Screen size is 6.26″ Full HD+ with Incell Technology that gives users an enjoyable experience whether by watching streaming videos or playing mobile games. It’s also their first phone to have the latest MediaTek Helio P70 processor and is complemented by a generous 128GB storage expandable up to 256GB, and 6GB of memory.

The Flare flagship still has five AI cameras: three main and two at the front. The triple camera system are composed of 16 Megapixels, 5 Megapixels and 2 Megapixels while the front camera has 16 Megapixels and 5 Megapixels. Speaking of the front cameras, since the S8 Plus has a full screen display, they managed to have it hidden inside the phone. Turn on the camera app and the dual front-camera will pop-up.

Of course, it’s also LTE Ready, Android 9 Pie pre-installed and has 3,200 mAh battery. Price is P12,990. This will collide with another full screen phone with a pop-up camera – the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.

I am excited with the new Flare S8 series by Cherry Mobile, and I really think they will “FLARE” their competition just like what they did in 2012.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
