BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 Update Released

Kevin C. Tofel, a U.S. Tech Blogger whom I’ve been following for a decade already posted an article on GigaOM about the latest BlackBerry OS. BlackBerry OS 10.3.1, which is already pre-installed in the BlackBerry Classic is now available for download for other BlackBerry devices.

So which BlackBerry phones would get this upgrade? According to the BlackBerry Blog, the lucky models are:

  • BlackBerry Q5
  • BlackBerry Q10 (Yay! Downloading it now!)
  • BlackBerry Z10
  • BlackBerry Z30
  • BlackBerry Z3
  • BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983
  • BlackBerry Passport

The major update in BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 is the addition of the Amazon App Store. Those who find the apps in BlackBerry World very limiting will be happy to know that they can have access to 200,000 apps like Minecraft, Candy Crush Saga, Amazon Kindle app, etc.

Of course there are other updates that are very much useful as well, like Keyboard Shortcuts, BlackBerry Blend, BlackBerry Assistant which lets you do voice commands, extended Battery Power and Upgraded Camera Software.

I’m currently downloading the update on my BlackBerry Q10 and will post my thoughts about it soon. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for a review unit of the BlackBerry Classic to arrive so check out my post on that as well.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
