Two days after its announcement in Taipei, the ASUS Zenfone 4 Series were officially unveiled today at the SMX Convention Center. No Gong Yoo in sight (sorry fans) but we have 5 new phone models that will still make you squeal in excitement.
The ASUS Zenfone 4 is the flagship model of the series followed by the ASUS Zenfone 4 Pro which sports a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The SONY IMX 362 sensor, considered the best CMOS camera in the world, is found in these two variants. These phones’ main focus is giving their users the best experience in capturing images, as well as a device that can manage productivity and other heavy tasks.
The ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie is a big update from the original Zenfone Selfie released two years ago. Executives we interviewed earlier explained why the Selfie was absent last year (that’s for a separate blog post later.) Dual-lens cameras at the front are now capable of taking wide-angle photos and bokeh portrait photos. Along with its bigger sibling, the ASUS Zenfone Selfie Pro, these phones are geared to join the selfie phone wars and take a piece of its market.
If you haven’t noticed yet, it seems ASUS is focused on three types of users: one who is focused on excellent mobile photography and the other for documenting himself/herself by taking selfie photos and videos. I guess the third type of user they’ve identified are those who need large built-in batteries. The original ASUS Zenfone Max was a hit, as well as the Zenfone 3 Max. So it’s a no-brainer that ASUS will also sell the ASUS Zenfone 4 Max. There are 3 variants announced in the Taipei launch, but as of this time the Zenfone 4 Max 5.5″ variant with Full HD will be sold here in the Philippines. Its battery capacity will still have 5,000 mAh and its camera will have a big upgrade – a dual camera.
