Six Appeal: A Sneak Peak at the Samsung Galaxy S6

It’s almost here! With the Mobile World Congress drawing closer and closer, mobile phone manufacturers have been outdoing one another with the release of leaks to whet every techie’s appetite. One of them is Samsung, which has been outing teasers of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 one after the other. Even international carrier T-Mobile has its share of snippets, with the (very cheesy) tag “Six Appeal”.

Six Appeal - Samsung Galaxy 6

Based on the leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be made of metal, so best wave goodbye to that faux leather back panel. It will also sport curved edges, as well as an anti-reflective display that goes for approximately 5 inches with possibly an amped up resolution of 1440 x 2560 in QHD.

Recent reports from Techradar say that under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will run on the company’s own Exynos chipset, although there’s no word yet whether it’ll be the new Exynos 7 octa 14nm FinFET, which goes 20 percent faster than current processors while utilizing 35 percent less power. Android will still be the flagship’s OS, with the latest Lollipop version layered with a stripped down TouchWiz UI that will thankfully be clear of annoying bloatware.

The Samsung Galaxy S6’s camera has been a huge part of the teasers, with the company even going as far as saying that “the future of cameras is in the Samsung Galaxy Smartphone”. Based on outed information, this new device will feature a rear camera snapping at 20MP that can can handle low-light environments. It’s said to have a Pro mode that includes a manual shooting option.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be launched on March 1. It looks like Samsung will have a busy first quarter as the rumored Galaxy S6 Edge, which will feature an edge display, will also be announced in the next few months.
