FIRST IMPRESSIONS
For its price, the Cherry Mobile Flare J1 surprisingly feels like a solid device and not the usual plastic body we normally see. The back cover also feels solid which is actually made of hard plastic. It kinda looks nice if you ask me.
The front face of the Cherry Mobile Flare J1 looks good, and one might expect that the screen display would cover the whole black panel. Unfortunately, it only has a 5-inch display and it doesn’t have an edge to edge screen. Nevertheless, a 5-inch display is still better to have on your phone.
Played with the phone for nearly 30 minutes and I find the phone pretty okay to use especially for beginners. Those who are about to move from an entry level Android smartphone may still appreciate this, though I would suggest to get something with a bigger storage like at least 8GB (the phone comes with a MicroSD Card slot, I think up to 32GB). Camera is okay, but don’t expect for it to take spectacular photos. It should be able to take decent photos under daylight, and there’s an LED flash that you can use for low light conditions.
The good thing about the Cherry Mobile Flare J1 is it already comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Sure, it’s not Marshmallow, but at least it has a newer OS than KitKat.
